About you

You are a savvy press hound with cutting edge communications, social media and writing skills, along with an energetic attitude and aptitude to engage with and manage all internal and external stakeholders this fascinating organisation.

To be considered you will be an experienced Press Officer, working in-house or within a PR agency and be used to dealing with issue-based content.

You must be a strong communicator, with exceptional verbal, written and social media skills and be able to build strong and trustworthy relationships with both internal staff and the media.

About the role

Our client is now looking for an experienced Press Officer to join the marketing team to develop stronger and more proactive media relations.

They have several highly regarded industry specialists within the organisation, many experienced at public speaking and media relations, so they need to focus these resources and build new ones more opportunities to spread the messages and thought leadership.

The Press Officer will be an integral part of the marketing team. Your input will be used not only within the media environment but across all content produced, including journals, newsletters, speeches and social media.

This job is offered as part-time, hours can be negotiated to suit the applicant and the organisation (about 28 hours a week) – salary £25k plus.

About YOU

You are likely to be an Account Executive or Senior Account Executive at a PR agency keen to progress your career in a supportive, dynamic agency which can help you achieve your ambitions.

You may have experience in other areas of communications, but you will have a solid 18 months + years’ experience in trade, business-to-business or corporate PR, preferably in an agency setting.

You’ll have experience of the following:
• Writing media materials: press releases, articles, company backgrounders, case studies
• Media relations: building relationships with key client press outlets & placing content
• Research & analysis: monitoring industry trends, researching & applying to work
• Reporting & evaluation: producing client reports & evaluating against client KPIs
• Creativity & ideas: contributing to client campaigns and new business
• Presentations & reports: assisting with client presentations and reports
• Relationship building: collaborating confidently and enthusiastically with clients, colleagues and suppliers in meetings and day-to-day tasks
• Planning & time management: working to deadlines, organised & ability to multi-task, able to use own initiative
• Quality control & agency standards: producing accurate, good quality work with attention to detail
You’ll have some experience of/or interest in:

• Integrated PR campaigns – combining traditional PR & social media/digital tactics
• Design & artwork – commissioning and briefing design & artwork for campaigns
• Networking events & client events – attending, organising, participating

This is a brand new standalone role, so you will literally be jumping in feet first to kick-start the marketing. Hence, you need to have bags of marketing experience, be skilled at creating & implementing the marketing strategy and have a genuine interest in the environment, sustainability and agriculture.

About you

• It’s important that you are proactive, happy to work autonomously and have excellent commercial and business acumen.

• Good eye for design and aesthetics.

• Social media in a corporate style, especially using LinkedIn and Instagram.

• Expertise in copywriting and content creation.

• Empathetic understanding and experience of dealing with sensitive information.

• Ability to identify and cultivate client base – prospective and current, short and long term.

• Manage the marketing budget.

• And attend appropriate events (on and off-site).
